The art of making perfumes is called Perfumery. Perfumery date back more than 4000 years. The history of perfume began when ancient men had started the burning of incense and herbs as a religious offering to Gods. But making perfumes has become an art when the process of distillation was discovered. In the early stage of perfumery the main and the important part in making perfumes was extracting oils from flowers. This was done using distillation, the same process which is used even today.
